Product description
Our open-cell soft PUR backer rod is an extruded polyurethane backing material designed specifically for indoor use. It is excellent for backfilling joints in dry areas and, thanks to its soft structure, adapts optimally to the joint shape.

Application notes
The optimal ratio of joint width to joint depth is an important prerequisite for the longest possible service life of an elastic joint. Component joints are often too deep for proper joint dimensioning. The joint depth should therefore be limited with the OTTOCORD PUR-H-B3 backer rod, which at the same time prevents three-sided adhesion so as not to restrict the flexibility of the sealant in the joint. OTTOCORD PUR-H-B3 has an open-pore cell structure and is therefore not suitable for wet rooms or outdoor use. For these, we recommend the closed-cell OTTOCORD PE-B2 backer rod. Compared with OTTOCORD PUR-HS-B3, OTTOCORD PUR-H-B3 is softer, making it easy to insert or twist into narrow component joints. The diameter of the backer rod should be about 20% larger than the joint width so that it can be pressed into the joint and then remains in an oval shape within it.
