Product description

The OTTOCORD PUR-HS-B3 backer rod is an extruded polyurethane backing material developed specifically for indoor use. It is ideal for tight spots, being open-cell and particularly firm.

Special notes

For wet exposure, we recommend the closed-cell OTTOCORD PE-B2 backer rod, also available in our shop.

The diameters 35 mm (pack = 180 m), 50 mm (pack = 100 m) and 60 mm (pack = 50 m) are also available on request with a delivery time of approx. 3 weeks.

Application notes

The optimal ratio of joint width to joint depth is an important prerequisite for the longest possible service life of an elastic joint. Component joints are often too deep for proper joint dimensioning. The joint depth should therefore be limited with the OTTOCORD PUR-HS-B3 backer rod, which at the same time prevents three-sided adhesion so as not to restrict the flexibility of the sealant in the joint.

OTTOCORD PUR-HS-B3 has an open-pore cell structure and is therefore not suitable for wet rooms or outdoor use. For these, we recommend the closed-cell OTTOCORD PE-B2 backer rod. Compared with OTTOCORD PUR-H-B3, OTTOCORD PUR-HS-B3 is somewhat more compression-resistant and firmer. The backer rod should be inserted into a predefined joint with a slight clamping effect. The diameter of the backer rod should be about 20% larger than the joint width so that it can be pressed into the joint and then remains in an oval shape within it.
